ND Age Group Tournaments - day three

Bay of Plenty went close to having two teams in the final of the ND Mapei Under 15 cricket tournament after results of day three.
BOP Coastland burst the Hamilton bubble of invincibility, grabbing a finals berth in a game that ebbed a flowed throughout. Taking first use of the ball, the Coastland bowlers dismissed the Waikato side for 172, with the wickets being shared around. Brendan Flegg was the best of the Hamilton batsmen with 45 runs.
A number of consistent partnerships were the Coastland key to victory – with the Bay team getting home for the loss of six wickets. Thomas McCrury, Elliot Timoti and Cameron Neal all got through to the thirties before being dismissed
The BOP Lakeside side were in contention for most of the encounter against Counties Manukau - just failing by some seven runs to make the final stanza. Batting first Counties were dismissed for 169 with Haamiroa Clarke top scoring with 71. Himesh Gosai and Richie McGaw both grabbed three wickets apiece.
Led by Travis Cornwell and Cody Fell who returned identical scores of 40 runs – the Coastland side fell agonisingly close when they were 162/9 after their allotted fifty overs.
The Bay of Plenty Secondary Schoolgirls grabbed their first victory of the ND tournament in emphatic style. Led by Northern Spirit player Anna Petersen the Bay side posted an impressive 226 all out against hosts Counties Manukau.
Batting at four Anna was in superb touch smashing 96 not out – being denied three figures when she ran out of partners. Tegan Weston provided plenty of support and was rewarded with a solid 34 run contribution.
Counties were never let into the match - with tight and accurate bowling the order of the day, having Counties all out for 88. Kim Maisey returned the best figures with 2/13 with Megan Ensor (2/14) and Anita McCarthy (2/24) also bowling with efficiency.

Hamilton 172 lost to BOP Coastland 174/6 (Thomas McCrury 37, Cameron Neal 35, Elliott Timoti 33)
